The Fleet Service Manager where I take my truck told me they do not tie mods to general failures or problems unless they can directly relate them to the problem. He said they use a "common sense" approach.
Again, how warranties are interpreted is the key. My own local dealer's service advisor said they hate to see warranty work come in and when I returned a battery under warranty, the parts manager said the same thing. RV dealers ditto. Sometimes I think warranty work is so universally disliked I think some dealers may reject it out of principle. I know I won't touch in the stuff I work on and fortunately am able to say no.
