EGR DELETE

Hello all, I have a 05 6.0 liter f250.

I wanted to pick everyone's opinion here. I want to delete the egr cooler. I know this will make sure I don't overheat if the cooler becomes clogged.
Questions, will I gain any power from the delete?
And what else will I gain?

Well first you'll gain a clean intake. Also if you use the IPR delete or one of SDS intakes you'll do away with the pesky j tube connection that can leak.
As far as power gain not sure but it stands to reason that cleaner air will give you a bump up. I haven't really noticed any gains so to speak. So end up loosing a bit of boost after doing the egr delete and again I didn't loose any myself. Good luck and have fun with it.

Thanks for the info, I am a bit nervous about losing boost. How can I prevent that?

That part I don't know. May have to do with computer strategy, may have to do with boost leaks. Can't say as I've read a definite find. These guys on here have the knowledge for sure maybe someone has an answer as to why. Personally I wouldn't worry about it and delete away. KIDKISER pretty much summed it up imo.

What you'll gain is keeping your money in your pocket from a failed cooler. That and the aggravation when and where it fails is usually on vacation or on the job just outside of Timbuktu.

It actually increases air flow, why the boost goes down a hair (less back pressure) and has the potential to increase power. High boost isn't always the answer.... air flow.

x2.

We've become quite the fan of the IPR Research EGR Delete's FWIW. No blue hoses to leak, but consider coupling this work with upgraded stainless braided flex couplers on the y pipes to replace the factory bellows. We can hook you up with both (I know you're surprised...)

EGR Delete Kit GEN2

Hope this helps!

As has been said before-IPR!!! I had to replace the other delete with it due to the leaking hose. I lost some boost, but the truck pulls great and gets a little better mpg's.

I went with the IPR GEN2 that Ed linked in his post above. Glad I did, it is an excellent kit. Like WatsonR posted. It's not about boost, it's more about airflow and tuning. For example, if you go with a larger intercooler you will see a small drop in boost after the swap but you just increased and cooled the air flow & increases the air density so you opened the door for more HP.
