Been banging on the worst of the fenders for 2 days. What a mess, 6 hours in and probably3 or so to go and that won't be any pick and dolly work. I had to bend 3/8 rod to go in the lip just to get it stiffened up and have some kind of shape to work with.
Also thought I'd elaborate a little on the Model A axle housing. It has a 1" impact socket welded to it and I have various hardys made on 1" shaft for different hammering tasks. The one that's in it is the same height as my big vice outside so it makes a rest for things like hammering u joints.
That's frikken awesome WB... Special clamps can make a huge difference!
That was a broken pair of vice grips I threw in a junk drawer several years ago, You can see where I welded the loose jaw. I knew I would need them some day. I also have a couple pair of the vice grip C clamps I have welded stuff to for special purposes and ground it back off. This pair will remain dedicated.
Well, here's the fender I spent a weeks spare time on before deciding I just needed better ones. I'll hang it in the shed, it might find a use someday.
On a brighter note, I spent a couple hours on this running board and it's looking real good. Piece by piece, maybe by summer I can start assembly. I'm going to look into having the shell blasted and primed somewhere.
