Early 99 Clock Spring
Hello everyone I had a question about the Clock spring on my e99 superduty 7.3 I bought the truck earlier this year and the horn did not work along with the lights on the steering wheel staying on at all times. I did some testing with a DVM and came to a conclusion bad clock spring. Went to O'Reillys and picked up a 525-213 dorman clock spring supposed to work for 99-03. When I pulled my old clock spring off I noticed it was slightly different the 2 flat spots were 45 degrees off from the new one. Long story short there was no way to put the steering wheel on straight had to put it 45 degrees offset in order to make it work. I did a Google search on the part number f87b-14a664-cc the one that was on the truck. Number comes up as a 99-01 ford explorer clock spring. I'm guessing a previous owner went down to a junk yard and picked this up and popped it in got the truck aligned and truck has been like that for a while?. The wiring was slightly different maybe that's why I was having issues to begin with. Everything works normal now I have a horn lights work correct and CC. I'm thinking I just need to take the truck to get aligned so they can re-center the wheel??
