VIN Decoding Assistance Needed
Here is the Vin/Data plate on my 61 F100 I just recently purchased. Any decoding help would be much appreciated. I tried searching online, and came up with some info, but not everything. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for the info.
I read online that the code 11 was for the Ford 8 inch. Also, it there a way to find out if it is a posi or open differential?
Is there any way to find out what the DSO code means?

Code 11 was used by Ford to ID a few different differentials over the years. You have to combine the 11 with the year and type of vehicle in question.
1961 F100 had two possible differentials. - Ford 9" non-limited slip and Dana 44 with limited slip.
The Ford 9" wasn't available with Limited Slip until 1968 F100's.
Take a couple of pics of your DIFF and we should be able to help you ID it if it hasn't been swapped for something else.

A DIFF with an 8 in. ring gear could have been used in passenger cars of the era, like a Fairlane, but not in the F100 trucks.
Ford threw away all the paperwork years ago so no way to know what the DSO means on any of these trucks 1961-1966.

1961 and 1962 Ford F100 (as well as other models like 4x4) are the same for these rear axles codes. This is from the 1957-1963 master parts catalog from Ford combined with other information from ND.
11 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.70-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.
12 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.89-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

Ok cool. I also did a ton of research the other night and came to this conclusion as well. Plus now I know how to ID 9" vs 8"

8" introduced in 1962 Fairlane/Meteor 221/260 V8. Used in misc. midsized Ford/Merc cars thru 1980.
