I need to figure out why my SxS is throwing error codes related to the coolant temps when all appears to be well...
Have you checked to see what it's reading? Press and hold both buttons on the instrument cluster for 10 seconds while the ignition is on to enter test mode. IIRC the first screen that test mode shows is coolant temperature. You can leave this display up while riding to use it like a gauge, that would help you narrow it down.
Yeah, it has a temp guage/screen that I can scroll to... Temps are normally 198-204f and the electric fan cycles on/off as normal... Then suddenly the temp drops to 104f and it starts flashing the code P0119 ((ECT Sensor Intermittent)) and a moment or so later it flashes a second code P0116 ((ECT Sensor Circuit Range/Performance))..
I shut the unit down.. Check fluid levels in the recovery bottle - they are fine and no airbubbles in the clear tube from the radiator. Start it back up and the temp guage shoots up to 235 and the fan comes on and brings it back to 198 almost immediately.. Seems to run fine. I am suspecting a poor connection at the ECT sensor or maybe a bad sensor.
I have sent all this info to my dealer in Nebraska and hope they have a suggestion or fix..
Maybe dielectric grease on the connection plug to the ECT??

Unless I never understood this right, isn't dielectric grease an insulator? I've always been of the understanding that this is good for protecting a connector from corrosion, but not to repair an intermittent connection. I think it may make it worse.

The notion behind dielectric grease is to protect the connection from corrosion and conductivity interference caused by moisture..

No dealer near me, but I may order one online.. I am going to take a good look at the connection and see if I may have introduced some water to it when I pressure washed the rig...
