Kicked back here waiting for supper time...
I spent the afternoon with a chisel - carving out the wooden floor of my trailer under each of the E-Track slots in order to make enough clearance so the E-Track latch assemblies would fit into the track.. Evidently the little Chinese School-Girl did not weigh enough to stomp big enough bends into the channels.. As soon as you bolt them down solid, they would no longer accept the latch assembly.. Since I had no one to help, i could not pull the 150 (or so) bolts out ... Yes each one had a washer and nyloc nut on the bottom..
Oh well - I really didn't have anything better to do today..
The middle track I installed on my trailer sometimes requires some persuasion to use. My fault because I installed it over two parallel boards, and one happens to be slightly thicker than the other. Never thought to try a chisel, I ASSumed it would be too much trouble so I've used a hammer to beat the latches into place.
Yeah, it was a drag but I'm glad it's done... The last thing you want to do when you're under a wet and muddy vehicle is to struggle to get the tie-downs in place..
They should have made these things with more clearance - pure and simple...
Had to go get one of my 30# propane tanks filled again today.. Propane costs $2.75 a gallon here. It's getting colder at night right now. Mid to upper 30's.. The coyotes howl quite a bit lately and I guess the full moon has something to do with that. Maybe they're also howling because they're cold...
