Owned my 2006 Expedition for a month or so now...
The temp which shows on the instrument cluster's message center has been accurate until a couple days ago.
Left the house early morning and was surprised to see about 20 degrees warmer than weather report and phone showed.
By the time I got to work it showed 108 degrees.
In reality it was less than 40.
Thought maybe under hood heat was screwing it up.
After sitting all day at work, I go to leave check it again and still see over 100 degrees.
It still has the "F" so it is not just a matter of showing Celsius or anything like that.
Guessing the sender or temp probe or whatever, where ever it is mounted needs attention.
I did shoot the corners of my radiator support with plastic dip coating about a week ago.
Some serious rust in the lower corners and wanted to try and slow that.
I also replaced the headlights and driving lights about the same time.
Anyone have any knowledge of where the info comes from??
Where the thermometer is mounted, or any other info and/or ideas?
Appreciate it !!!
The temp sensor for outside air temperature is mounted in the upper left corner in front of the condenser when looking at the car from the front. Mine had some bad looking wires, but after cleaning them up and putting heat shrink on them it's fine now, perhaps the same on yours?
