I didn't get done what I wanted to today, but I did get a picture of the blinking LED. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get it off my iPhone 4S and then to the forum.

Blinking light on dash

I figured it out. For what it's worth - here's the LED on the dash. Now I see how to do this, actually it was pretty straightforward, I'll get some pictures of my truck.

Aftermarket, without question. Option - follow the wires from the LED, look for a control box or the like, see if there's a mfr. name, phone #, web site on the label. Worth a look, anyway.

my viper remote start has one of those lights. the installer asked me where i wanted it mounted. i told him in his tool box.
he said what? i told him i don't care where you put it, as long as it is not in the truck. i found it last week when i added a power feed for extra reverse lights. he has it taped to the brain up behind the instrument cluster.
