Hey all...need some input....I'm wanting to change the oil in my transfer case before winter....So Ford has special Transfer case fluid as we all know....Does everyone use this? Or has anyone used say Amsoil or Mobil 1 trans fluid in the t-case. I'm thinking of using the Mobil 1 synthetic trans fluid maybe. Thoughts?
Ooops meant to post this in the general Super duty forum so if you see a double post there keep in mind I've only had one cup of coffee so far to day haha.
I used Royal Purple Syncromax in mine, no issue to date and its been 3 years. I live in new england and the truck sees a fair amount of travel in the snow.
I used the Ford Transfer Case Fluid as recommended.
I know it looks like ATF, but there must be a reason their ATF is labeled "not for use in transfer cases and their transfer case fluid is labeled "not for use in automatic transmissions"
I ended up going with the Royal Purple Syncromax oil. Transfer case is quieter when in 4x4 going down the road....used to have a slight hum...haven't heard the hum since changing the oil.
