So when I bought my X the rear quarter window was taped up because the motor was broken. I got a good motor from a local salvage yard and put it in. After removing the tape I noticed that the window was sagging and would not close all the way. I was able to lift up on it while my wife closed it so it would seal, or so I thought. We had a bunch of rain here over the weekend and it leaked.
So my question is can you replace the hinge on these windows? I looked at the parts diagrams and it only shows the whole window that includes the hinge for $600. Anyone ever had to work on these?
Yeah, when I bought my X the driver side didn't shut all the way flush. Then on a dirt road, it slipped down at the hinge. I took it to a Fast Glass shop, they said they'd seen a bunch of them do this.
Ford had a TSB about the adhesive that was used being brittle, and had recommendations for repair using a different glue.
Evidently the glass is glued into the hinge, and the new adhesive should be good to go. Mine has been good for a year and a half since.
Good luck!
