I picked up a used rear sliding window for my 99 F150 today for $20. I have not pulled the old window out yet, but have a few questions I am looking for answers before I start.
First, what will I need for a gasket for the window? Is it just the black stuff in the tube or is there something else that needs to go in? Where is a good place to find this? Is it a generic product carried by O'Reillys or is it something specific to Ford?
Finally, when I got the glass home I found that 2 of the studs in the glass frame were broke off. It looked like the guy I got it from twisted them off. Can these be replaced?
Now one side of the window is broke out, so even if I have to use extra goop to make it seal it will be better than my gorilla tape window I use now.
Thanks!
Thanks for the link! Yeah it will take a while. A few months ago I pulled the engine and rebuilt the lower end. Hope the window is just a little easier than that!
The video answered all but 1 question. I see two of the studs in the window is broken. It is 2 of the bottom studs. Is there a way to pull these out and replace them?
I think there are enough other studs still in place, and I can clamp it in until the window sealant cures and it will be fine if I can't replace the studs.
Thanks!
I am thinking maybe look for another
replacement window in better shape.

Is there a way to just replace the glass in your existing frame?
I have been told by a glass place the one section that is broken can not be replaced, the entire window has to be replaced.
The local salvage yards have windows for $120. I found this window for $20. This pickup is my hunting rig so it doesn't have to be perfect. It has had a hard life. When I got it the grill is broke, one headlight assembly is broken, windshield is cracked, rear window is broken, side mirror is broken, and a few other problems.
