Anyone know where I can get just the oil cap O ring or the O ring dimensions? I have a K&N reusable oil filter and the O ring alone is not available from Ford according to the dealer.
Probably just as easy to go and buy a Motorcraft filter at Wmart for the oring. I looked for quite awhile and did not see anything on just that oring, not that it's not out there.

None of my biz, but, I'd never use a reuseable oil filter. JMHO. Esp. on the 6.0.
Don't think I would use it. The big reason being the price.
I do about 3 oil changes a year and it would take 14 changed to pay for it.
Reusable oil filters are a proven thing in jet engines and there is also some in
use for small piston powered aircraft. But they make this look cheap. It's one
and only plus is the added neodymium magnets. But the crap will still eat you LPOP
so that kills that idea.
I use the old Tousley Ford link, as bismic mentioned now AutoNation, if I know a part number and just want to plug it in and see about ordering it, or want just a basic picture of something.
Both work quite well but the autonation link will always have the better price. The first link has always had better parts breakdowns but is a little harder to decipher as it uses call out numbers. I have found using the two hand in hand usually lets me find what I need, however even at times one has to tap into the knowledge base here on the forum. I will also add the parts guys at AutoNation have always been very helpful when I called by phone.
... and shipping is very reasonable - especially if you go through FordParts.com!
Good point bismic, however have you or anyone else noticed that Autonation has much better discounts? Unless it's because I never created an account through Fordparts.com, but take that oring for example.
Autonation gives you 28% off list.
I thought at one time the two websites were both the same company, but I can't prove that.
Edit, scratch that my bad. I see if you pick Autonation as the dealer in the initial pop up you get the great prices. I have never caught that, must be the Adblock I have on this computer.
You got it! Bullitt390 showed us the advantages of going through FordParts.com.
AutoNation WBL is a sponsor on a few of our 6.0L forums. On one forum, the rep still has the "Tousley" screen name. VERY helpful person. IMO they are great to deal with for parts (but so is Ed!!!).
Hmm, after all the o-ring, filter, and gasket recommendations, I wonder what kind of discount they would give us on a new (or almost new) 6.7L?

Went back to dealer and asked a different person the O ring question again. O ring was $25. I asked him if he would share some of that good sh** he was smoking. No sense of humor!! Cap with O ring are close to the same price. Ordered 2 O rings from White Bear Lake Ford. $30 for two including shipping. K&N O ring was too thin. Cap leaked after I installed the filter. Advised K&N about my experience with the O ring that came with the filter. Like Congress, they are looking in to it. Right!!!

Thanks to all for the info.

This is likely an issue with the cap then. It's machined slightly smaller or larger than the factory cap at the sealing groove.
If I payed that much for a lifetime filter I would expect nothing less than a lifetime supply of o-rings if they won't accept a factory spec o-ring.
I highly doubt it's an issue of the filter housing surface being worn that much.
I can relate with the high dealer prices. We have a dealer near me that charges over retail. Now, to me that is BS. I have NO problem with dealers making a profit. I worked in parts for several years myself at a farm equipment dealer and I know it's part of making money. What really irks me is when places charge OVER retail.
