Replacing front wheel bearings, anything else?

I have some whine coming from my front wheel bearings so I'm going to replace them both.

I'm not sure if this had been done on my truck before, but I'm thinking so since I have Moog greaseable ball joints.

Truck has 250k miles on it. I'm going to check the pads, rotors and slide pins. Anything else that might need work?

I'm sure the half shaft could use a once over, but I don't keep my hubs locked so they don't turn much in regular driving.

Looking for FTE thoughts.

Maybe the axle dust seals. You do need to make a custom seal driver which is an easy stop at the local hardware store.

This is everything I replaced on my truck. You can see the seal driver tool that I made on the far right sitting on the concrete.

That is the old seal coming out. But you can see why you need that long seal driver as it has to fit around the axle shaft.

With it all finished up. Use some paint to make her all pretty!

Thank you. Do you have a p/n for the dust seal?

Also which break pads did you use? I've read "hawk" but unsure on which pad for someone who doesn't tow a ton.

Give me a second to try and find the part numbers for the dust seals. I did the inners and outers. The pic above shows the inner dust seal that goes on the axle hub. The outer one goes on to the knuckle itself. A bad pic but you can see the seal.

For the brake shoes, I just used the Napa premiums.

When doing the seals make sure you get in there and sand down the metal where the seal mates so it's all nice and clean.

I'm not at home as I'm watching the bosses dog at his house for a month and I don't have the Napa part numbers from the receipt but will look them up. I'll try and find the Ford part number for you.

I believe the larger inner seals are actually from ford and the smaller outer seals were from Napa.

Here is a how to link and list for part numbers on a 2004 F250. Jason is also a FTE member. 1975stroppebaja is the screen name.

I just had a vacuum line break to one of my front hubs causing my 4x4 and HVAC to act up, while you're in the fender well might as well throw $3 worth of new vacuum line in there.

Thanks for the tips. I successfully completed the hub swaps today. Everything is so heavy in these trucks. So happy ford built these right!
