I have a 2002 F250 with the auto headlight option. Tonight as I was driving in the dark all of my lights went out for a couple seconds then came back on two different times. The first time i thought it was maybe just a bright streetlight or something but that is definitely not the case because the second time I was going down a dark highway. I switched my lights to the manual on setting after the second time and they never went out again. Has anyone ever had this issue before or have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

 

Here's a diagram. You could try to find the sensor and mess with the wiring. Looks like the vehicle security module has the feature inside it.
