I have no idea how anything is going to react to Windows 10, so it's enter at your own peril. They'll have to yank Windows 7 out my cold dead hands - but I'll gladly hand over Windows 8 for a try at 10.
The upgrade is free. Very easy, and it even saved all my presets etc from 7. So you can do that 8 to 10 free of charge, piece of cake. The only real difference I notice is it has all of 7, and all of 8. You have a choice, touch screen , app mode, or keyboard and start menu like 7. I liked the change and so far havnt lost any hardware. Everything still works, and faster too. You can go back too if you don't like it. I was ready to go back. But really liked it.
i had AE version 10 and it would not work with Win8.1
they upgraded me to version 12.1 and the only issue i have is with the computer storing the activation code.
otherwise version 12.1 works fine.

Sorry, should have clarified. I meant windows 10. Not AE. I have AE 7.2.3 and windows 10.

My job is working on computers. For some people upgrading to 10 is not a good idea. I've seen various issues after the upgrade. Most of them with video cards and multiple monitors, but one guy was having intermittent crashes after downgrading he was fine. One good thing about the upgrade if you decide you don't want it you can go back to the previous OS within a certain amount of days. Oh, and I would do an "image backup" with a program like Norton Ghost (been replaced by a newer product that I haven't tried) or Clonezilla or at least a data backup before proceeding.
I've been on Win10 for about a week now and can't find anything to brag about or trash just yet. It does seem to move a little faster and has a different look, other than that it's pretty much just business as usual. I have some older software that wouldn't run on Win7 that I am hoping 10 will run but haven't tried it yet. Will uninstall/install AE tonight and see how it goes.
I use my computer for just a few things, and 10 has been just fine for now. I'm sure some people with special computers and stuff may have issues. But I just have a simple touch screen lap top that I do my billing on. My biggest fear was my fax, printer, copier wouldn't work anymore. Really need that. It worked fine. My upgrade said I could go back any time. Didn't say any time limit. I put the file on a card anyway. Cards in a drawer safe and sound. Don't think I'll need it though. Thanks for the heads up.

oh, ok. i used to have AE 7.2, but sold it after i won AE 10.31 in an internet givaway.
used that without any problems until the win XP laptop finally died and i had to update back in march.
that was when i found out AE 10.31 would not work with Win 8.1
