Hey all, this is my first post here but made a few posts over on powerstroke.org... I have a 2006 F250 6.0 Powerstroke which i bought in May (My first truck and also my first diesel) that I am trying to diagnose a couple problems before it gets into the colder weather. One problem being that my glow plug/WTS light does not come on. Does anyone know a possible cause for this? My glow plugs and GPCM all work fine so does anyone know if there's a bulb that would be out or where the problem would be? I'd like to have this light working before winter time for obvious reasons... and another light that doesn't work that I'd like to try and figure out is the brake light that should come on when you put on your emergency brake. Thanks in advance everyone and sorry for the long post as my very first. haha
Check for codes, as it is really important there are none or you follow them all up. The dash is pretty complicated, I have never had mine out on this truck. So I don't know if a simple bulb is your issue. Pretty sure they would be separate. Hopefully someone with this experience will chime in to help.
Dannyboy, do you have to pull the dash out towards the steering wheel to get at them or can they be reached from behind without pulling? I know this same thing on my older trucks, I could just reach back untwist, gently, and reinsert with new bulbs. One at a time, replace the burnt ones? Bit of a crap shoot which ones you get doing it blind but perhaps better than tearing apart. Hope the OP lets us know what happens, how he does it, I see this in my future.
I don't think it's reachable unless you're a long armed contortionist. Maybe dropping the fuse box down might help but really pulling the dash cover off doesn't require tools and the instrument panel screws are easy access once you move the cover out of the way. Check a few YouTube videos on stereo installation for a good look at it.
To Rusty I have had the dash out numerous times to add in my PIE iPod adapter, so just a few more steps from there. Pulling apart all this stuff makes me nervous some plastic will break, gets more likely with age. I just turned 200,000 km last week. Truck will be 11 years old in spring.

Oh! And I also forgot to ask this as well, I did a cab-off head stud install over the summer and I can't seem to put my e-brake cable back together after I put the cab back on, which I took off right at the front metal "splice" right behind the body mount furthest forward behind the wheel well. (the e-brake light didn't come on before I took that off just adding that in there). Can anyone give me some advice on how to get it back together? I'd like to have the e-brake in case I ever need it and don't want to take it to a shop for them to do it cuz they'll probly charge me $100 just to do that.
