Gee, people sure dig in deep on stuff. I'm not saying Jody has no mechanical knowledge, just that he's not a mechanic. He couldn't answer all my questions, but most. I do still feel the same. I'm not putting anyone down here. I am only defending a guy I like and consider a friend even though I never met him personally. Our business relationship really feels like a friendship. Hes a good guy. That's all I'm doing. My belief on tuners is my experience and belief. Who are these nobodys who think there belief is better or the way to go. Are they experts or something. I'll buy from who I want, and get the results that I want. Same with them. If they like Edge, buy it. I don't care, its what you want. I just shared my bad experience and recommendation. I only jumped on this because the nobodys are saying I'm an idiot because I like DP tuner. Well I think there idiots cause they like Edge. So who cares. I like what I got and will continue to toot the DP horn. They are my friends. Some clown who wants to see my data so he can cut up Jody is not my friend. Theres a famous saying " a good mechanic can always find something to fix" Theres a reason for that saying. For guys like you who think they can poor over a motor with a microscope, then throw out bull**** , to get people to think you know what your talking about. In a mechanics case, its to rip you off. So pooring over Jodys tunes and picking them apart doesn't prove your point. It proves your a conspiracy theorist who likes to read way too deep into a minor subject. A guy asked what tuners are out there, I told him my preference and dislikes. All of a sudden some nobody jumps down DP and myself for my preferences. Too bad. Suck it up. I love Dp and the 500hp they gave me. If you don't like that, I hope its burning in ya. Enjoy the conspiracy. I prefer to think everyone is equal, including tuners. Of course I'm a Canadian, a lot of us believe in equality. I think I read about a tuner working out of area 51!! Ya, uses alien technology to really get these trucks going. LOl. The government has secretly been hiding this guy there to tune there military vehicles. LOL. Of course, your an expert so you already tried his tunes. A new conspiracy has emerged!! Oh no! Just kidding!!! Thought I better mention the joke, some of the more intelligent ones on here might start looking for this guy. Hahahaha. And no, never tried his tunes. lol.

I'm a couple beers into the night so let's get this out of the way.

Do you want to know why Edge calls their Juice a "chip"? Since you don't know how the device even functions, I would assume that you need to be educated on why the generic term "chip" is used. Do you have any buddys [sic] that drive Cummins or Duramax-powered vehicles? Typically, these people are too lazy to call devices what they are and the word "chip" tends to roll nicely off the tongue. Edge calls their device a "chip" because it's easier to just conform to what those people call it than to try to correct them. It's the same as an internet forum. These people call it a chip even though their engine computers are not capable of running anything besides a flash programmer or a sensor fooling device.

The Juice module for the 7.3L intercepts the injection control pressure sensor feed to the PCM to alter the power "level" by fooling the PCM into thinking that the injection pressure is lower than it actually is. The PCM reacts to this corrupt signal in the same way it would react to a properly-functioning signal, which is to increase the pulse width until the injection pressure regulator duty cycle is altered enough to correct the pressure that is being sensed as too low. Why is it able to "switch-on-the-fly"? Easy. All it does is vary the resistance internally to the device to cause changes in the amount of variance from actual voltage return to the PCM. That is ALL THEY DO.

A "chip" connects to the PCM physically and for all intents and purposes, the EEC-IV and EEC-V Ford computers are the only domestic ones capable of using a "chip" (in our case, the EEC-V 7.3L). The "chip" contains a stock calibration (a portion or all of it depending on the hardware) that has been modified to actually change the way the PCM reacts to the inputs it has been given, not reacting with stock mapping to corrupt inputs like an inline module (Juice). "Chips" do not overwrite the calibration on the PCM but disable the PCM from reading the internal memory (or one section of addressing, again, depending on the hardware) so the modified commands come from the calibrations flashed to the "chip". This is why they are commonly able to change calibrations based on a switch position.

I think the moderators should delete this thread. Its going too far, and I'm sure the original poster got all the info they needed anyway. Opinions are great to express but shouldn't be argued over or even defended since they are opinions after all. No one is right when an opinion or belief is involved. I call out my bad for going to far in this argument over my opinions and beliefs. So do us all a favour and pull this stupid argument off the site.

Hmmm...Delete the thread when people don't agree with you???

In the future, try separating your great walls of text with paragraphs.

I don't care who agrees with me. They are all nobobys, and mean nothing. I'm happy with what I got and were I live. If you don't like what or how I write, don't read it. I can go all week on this if they like. I'm self employed. I can take the whole month off to do this if ya want. Seems everyone wants to talk politics now on this thread. Should be fun. Gonna get dirty cause its easy to gut your economy and politics. I'm done on the chip thing. Edge calls it a chip, so I'll believe them. Not some nobody who thinks they know more than the people that invented it. I'll take Edges word thanks. And one more time to dig it in. Jody and DP are the best!!

You can't spell and it's obvious you can't read either. The Juice does NOT program anything to achieve the differences in power (the new ones do incorporate transmission tuning). The Evolution is a programmer and is not a "chip" by Edge's standard and the website NEVER confuses terms of any of their products (i.e. the Juice is never coined as a "chip" and the Evolution line is ALWAYS refereced as a "programmer"). So just because your tech support guy is using generic terms doesn't mean that you're right. <---That's the correct usage of "you're" (not "your"). That's your socialist education right there, buddy. Arguing with liberals, folks. This is how it goes.......

Here's proof! https://edgeproducts.com/products/

I really dislike when the comments get personal. We're a brotherhood of people who share a common interest, and everybody here is welcome to their input/opinion without the need to reply with anything offensive. Everybody provides for a household/family plus their truck - earning a degree of comity. If one feels another person is misinformed, then why not treat them like a student or a colleague with an opposing view - as opposed to an adversary?

If the discussion gets circular, let it go. There is plenty of input provided here without the need to convince every member to think a certain way. Let the reader sort it out... enough usable information is here to do just that.

The thread needs to be cleaned up a bit....but before that I just have to give my thoughts on why the Canadian's don't need a big military......um, they share a common border with the mightiest military the world has ever seen.

Ok, personal attacks don't fly here.

I'm out of town right now and have limited access and time to properly take care of some issues that have occurred here in the thread, so I'm gonna lock it until Monday when I fly back home and can clean up some stuff.
