I've got a 2016 6.7 F350 3.55 SRW Lariat LB (silver in color) in my garage that the dealer "let" me bring home to show the wife. I had a 2013 6.7 which was flawless but was totaled in a wreck. My only regret with that truck was the short bed, small fuel tank, and no exhaust brake. I tow small (by most standards) equipment trailers and am looking for a travel trailer or fifth wheel to take the wife camping. After my 2013 was totaled I made a poor decision thinking I could get by with an F150 and regretted that purchase since the first time I hooked a trailer to it.
Anyways I haven't had much time to do any research on a new truck (other than pricing info thru truecar) and won't because I have work deadlines that are going to keep me busy for the foreseeable future, plus I wasted a couple hours of work time at the dealer today so now I have to make up for lost time. So I would appreciate any help I can get from those that are in the current know.
Questions right now before buying are......
1. Are there any issues with the 16 diesel? I know this one has a different turbo, anything else change from my 2013? In my brief research I read something about possible valve issues, wasn't real clear. Will this be a good reliable truck for us like the 13 was?
2. Is the "exhaust brake" an actual exhaust brake? I turned it on and off on the drive home and couldn't really tell much difference with it on or off. Will it be more effective with some more weight behind it?
I am not sure I like the center seat option on this truck compared to the console option, but my wife likes the option to have six passengers if necessary. I don't like not having rear passenger vents but this isn't a deal breaker for me. Thoughts on this from anyone?
I told the dealer that if we decide this is the truck for us I want the TPMS threshold lowered to a more acceptable level for unloaded driving before I purchase and he said "no problem, we do that all the time for customers".
Anything else you can throw in for advice would be greatly appreciated.
I just brought home a 16 F350 6.7 long bed a few weeks ago . The exhaust brake doesn't feel like much when you're running around empty unless you get some rpm's up . With my 14,000 pounds of fiver in tow the brake actually slows down the truck and camper going down 7% grade at any speed with only 2000 RPMs. At 10% it is just as effective. On my 11 and your 13 we would've had to have 3500 RPMs and it wouldn't have worked as well.
This second gen motor puts out a good bit more torque and tows considerably better than the gen 1 motors.
The long bed was a must for me as well, had to have the larger fuel tank and bed space.
Don't worry...you NEED this new truck.
My local dealer in ga started 10k off super duties three weeks before I took delivery.
I just upgraded this year from a 2012 F150 to a 2016 6.7L F350 sterling gray crew cab long box that seats 6. And I have loved every minute of it. We have to carry six when we go camping or anywhere so we have to have the bench seat up front. You can always drop the middle console so you have a couple cup holders and storage and arm rest. I pull a 32 foot TT that maxes out around 7K total which I know is light for this truck. But that is the beauty of it. It was practically too much for the half ton. The exhaust brake works great, tow/haul mode turned on and cruise control going down 7% grades and I don't have to touch a thing. I am not sure about the valve issue. But I love it and if you had an earlier model and loved it no reason why you wont love this one.
I would think that Invoice minus rebates is a good price.
The exhaust brakes is very noticable until you get a load on it and start down a grade. It works well and is just kinda there, You won't feel or hear it running around empty on level ground.
My 2015 trucks gets slightly lower mileage than my 2011 did. But I blame that on the slightly bigger tires (295/65R20 vs 275/65R20)
My kids are grown, empty nester here, So I'm happy with the buckets and console.
Thanks for the encouraging words, We do NEED this truck. Love the color, love the power, and couldn't pass up the deal we got on it! It doesn't have the Lariat Ultimate package but still had everything the Ultimate includes just optioned individually, with the exception of the chrome top on the mirrors but I prefer it like this anyway. Here it is.....

Congrats on the new truck. I like the non chrome mirror tops better too. In fact, I don't really like the chrome package. Unfortunately, it does come with the Platinum line... And so does a heated steering wheel. Might not be used where you live though.
My 2011 had seating for six with the front center "jump seat", the 2015 in my sig has the console. I like the console better. First, even though we are a family of 4 and would have enough room to take another couple (like our parents) somewhere, we never did. Everyone likes to drive themselves to places. The FRONT seat is cramped and in our current setup with the center seat you are always hitting the upfitter switches or some other button on the dash. Because the console keeps you out of the center area - I noticed that this doesn't happen anymore. The extra power outlets (and 110V power) the console provides is more useful for MY USE CASE.
The other thing about the console I like, is that I have a cooler that fits inside nicely so when I travel I have a place for drinks in easy reach.
I don't think you can go wrong, per se, either way. Just giving you my experience as someone that has had both setups.
I noticed my exhaust brake running empty going down 10% or greater grades - otherwise not so much.
I get slightly (around 5-6%) less mileage in the 2015 than my 2011... As they say, YMMV.

The chrome package was not worth the money in my opinion. And still think not worth the added $1000-1200 for it unless you chrome/sparkles junkie. The chrome package only added a few items that to me were not worth it. The items added are, chrome mirror caps, chrome exhaust tips, chrome front tow hooks and a flat verses round side step step.
I think you will be happy without the chrome and the truck will make up for it as you drive it more.
If you don't have the security system and long distance or phone remote start, there are threads on here and the diesel stop on how to add it...

For him, the chrome package would also include chrome-clad wheels, as his truck is an SRW.
That said...I think the chrome clad wheels are hideous and they are the #1 reason I would never get the chrome package.

Congrats on the new truck! I would love a '16 but can't afford the divorce As far as the chrome package, the only thing I like in that package are the side steps. Much more user friendly than the round steps on my '10. I too hate the chrome topped mirrors and tow hooks!
Brandon, congrats on your '16 as well!!! Hope she serves you as well as your white one did!
