I already took out my pcm and cleaned terminals and cut a hole in plastic box. but ran out of time and didn't put chip on the truck. Can I just pull battery cables and take the black box off and plug the chip in Without unbolting the pcm from the connector from under the hood?

You can just ensure the KEYs ARE NO WHERE NEAR THE TRUCK !!!
You should pull the PCM to ensure the fit is as close to perfect as possible. I also recommend Duct Tape used as a strap to keep it seated.
But, you may be able to do it by removing the PCM Mount and tilting it lightly and install. Although, I don't recommend it.
3 8mm bolts and one 10mm bolt is not that much work.
Pull the PCM. Make sure your board is surgically spotless. Install your switch first to make sure you don't have tension on the pcm. (you should have at least a 1 inch drip loop).
Tape the wire to the chip lightly where it arrives at the PCM to remove future chafe damage. Be very careful reinstalling the PCM without a lot of wiggle or shove crap. Should slide straight in nicely your creating gaps in the reciever.
As Tom said it's a fairly easy and quick upgrade but be very aware of the tightness of the 10 mil bolt thru the engine firewall.
I was a lil scared when I installed mine not to over torque it. Few months after the install and the instant orgasms from driving it with a chip, I experienced numerous shutdowns while driving and couldn't find the culprit until I just happened to bump the PCM while doing wiggle tests.
Make sure you snug that 10mm bolt right up and then go after the bracket and interior bolts. I used a zip tie on the one closest to the seat because of the wire, but you really should as described, score the receiving box for the wire lead and rebolt it to spec.
