I replaced my aftermarket bumper with a stock bumper. I am now trying to replace my license plate lights. The aftermarket bumper had a single wire aftermarket license plate light, the lead is the single black wire hanging down in pic. I guess aftermarket lighted grounded itself to bumper.
The new lights are two wire, black and brown. Any guesses on which is hot and which is ground? Also, is this connector in the pic such that I can buy a male connector to that to connect to my license plate light and just plug in (assuming i get the brown and black leads figured out)
it no longer matters.
see that blue connector? it's called a scotchlok and has now already ruined your factory plug.
they are by far the worse style of connector there is.they are extremely easy to use but imho they should be outlawed.
so now,cut it off and strip the wire back until you no longer find corrosion and use a crimp style connector with heat shrink to connect the new light.
do the same with the other wire now and eliminate the oem plug.
you'll be good for many, many years.
to find out which is hot and ground, simply use a meter or test light.
