1996 Ford F250 HD parking brake bolt/spring?

I am working on the rear brakes of my F250 HD in order to replace the wheel cylinders. There is a bolt that holds the parking brake assembly along with the self adjusting cable in place. On both sides this bolt has a washer, a spring then a press on bushing that goes through the whole assembly. Finally the bolt goes through the dust cover and has a nut on it to hold everything in place. First of all I would like to replace the bolt at least on one side due to its condition. But then, the springs on each side are completely depressed and I don't understand their purpose. Ford truck dealer is of no help so far either. If in fact these springs were really springs originally and not compressed, serving some purpose I would then try to find them and replace them as well. Does anyone on here know about this animal? Pictures attached. Thanks in advance. RH

Might this be a broken/damaged spring that's usually included in a drum brake hardware kit? Been a while since I've had mine off, so I'm going by memory.

Not part of hardware kit

It is not in the hardware kit and I get no helpful information from Ford service/parts departments. I just went ahead and put everything back together and used it. Still …it is quite a mystery what the spring is intended for.

Don't worry about the spring. Just put some lube on it and put it back together

It's assembled wrong, the collar/sleeve piece is on backwards, it should go (left to right) bolt, washer, spring with the big end towards the threads of the bolt, park brake lever, park brake actuator(I don't know the name of it but the piece that actually pushes the shoes out) then the collar/sleeve with the lip end going towards the threads, then you put it all through the backing plate and put the nut on.

Ok …thanks for that nfo. Although this is how it came out. I already have it all back together and sm concerned if I take it apart and try to push that bushing off and reassemble, I may damage the whole thing. What am I losing with it being assembled wrong? Given that it was this way in the first place before replacing the cylinder. This part cannot be purchased separately from Ford. You have to buy the whole parking brake assembly. Thanks, you are the first person who has given some information about what is wrong here.

Those parts you linked are for a half ton truck.
I couldnt find the anchor pin (thats what I was taght it is called) on Rockauto. Ive dont remember ever needing to replace one. Take it apart, clean it up with a wire brush, and reassmble with some grease for lube.

Found it!

Reviving an old thread here and my first time posting. I was looking for this part as well this past month and I found it on TorqueKing.com. Has bolt, spring, collar, washers, and nut. Bolt looks a little on the small side compared to the stock one on my 1994 f350. We will see if it actually fits I guess but seems to be the closet and only thing to be found online.
