Aren't they polished with a clear coat like the '04 18" are?
I thought that I remembered Dave (have24 wheel) stripping clear off the "Five oval" rims before painting then black.

If so then the OP needs to treat them just the same as he would a painted body part, clay, rubbing/polishing compound, polish and wax. Worked out very well restoring my '04 18"s that started out very scratched up and dull.

I've had great results stripping the clear coating off of factory wheels then polishing them with aluminum polish. Of course, they will require more maintenance that way though.....

That's the only way to really make them brighter than factory, and yes, much more maintenance once they are naked. I'm way too lazy for that, We polished every bit of aluminum on my son's one dirt track QuarterMidget and it looked great but the calcium added to the clay track surface made life miserable keeping that high polish clean and bright.
