Is it hard for a novice to put in a new distributer or does it just need the cap replaced?I have a 95 f150 with 161000 miles on it and never have done either to it.It has a miss even after new plugs and plug wires.Or is it not the distributer at all?
Since I don't have any idea what engine you have I'll just throw out some ideas here. Make absolutely sure that you didn't get your firing order wrong. Second, check the gap on your plugs is set right. I once put in a set of plugs on my truck and on the boxes the plugs came in said pre-gapped, so I put them in without a second thought. Then for three days I kept beatin my head against the wall trying to figure out why my 300 was misfiring. Finally pulled the plugs and checked the gap. One plug barely even had a gap(that one misfired), and another plug had no gap(wasn't even firing, dead cyclinder). For future reference, please post what engine and any other piece of information that has to deal with the problem you are having. It helps us to help you. Other than that, Welcome to FTE !
