This is looking in from drivers side rear wheel well. I found it just hanging there. Is it important and what does it do? Is it supposed to connect to something? The hose goes down to this "junction" on the back of the axle.
rear axle vent line. should be clipped to the top of the frame. make sure it is clear. of obstructed the rear axle will over pressure and make seals leak
So the end of that hose should be open? Right now it appears it is plugged. I'll look under the truck tonight and see if I can tell where it used to connect.
If I were not on my phone I would find a picture for you, but Google 7.3 axle vent tube and you will find some good reference pictures of where it clips to. I ended up just replacing the entire length of tubing because mine was clogged too.
I see a lot of spots on the ground behind your truck, some oil on the bottom of the pumpkin, and what looks to be brake fluid near your brake line junction. All of these leaks need to be looked into - particularly if you're leaking brake fluid. Safety first (brakes), then longevity (bad seal on pumpkin?).
If you're lucky, it might be as minor as an open vent tube on top of the tank. It could just be dripping diesel on everything after a drive.

Most of those leaks are from the HPOP and subsequent drippage from trying to fix those leaks. I had to drive 400 miles and stop every 50 miles to dump oil in because I couldn't afford to have the truck fixed "on the road". So I have about 10 quarts of oil on the bottom side of this truck. I'll double check though. Now that I have the HPOP fixed I'll be trying to clean the driveway. I used Simple Green on some spots but didn't seem to do much for removing the oil.
Not to go off on a tangent here, but isn't that metal block with the two hard lines coming out of it, the brake distribution block for the rear brakes?

Yup.
Oh... and purple cleaner works pretty good for degreasing, it's just hard on painted surfaces.
The Purple Power? I believe I have some of that. I'll give it a try. The oil on the underside of the truck will be a great rust proofer though right? As you can see this truck has a lot of rust underneath...
