93 E4OD into 91 E4OD,no mods needed?
Been having issues with reverse slipping when warm and first start of the day taking a while going into gear.
I found a local guy who sold me on the cheap a low mileage(120k) E4OD 2WD out of a 1993 F150 4.9(300ci inline) with the original converter with it,he's building a race truck out of his.
I am told by many that it will be a direct bolt up swap.
I don;t have time to do it myself right now and need my truck to be dependable,i use it for mostly hauling a trailer and things,so i been pricing local shops doing the swap for me.
So i just want to clarify before i take it someone that it will a no mods direct swap..
1 is the driveshaft yoke the same?
2 will the 2 plug ins be the same thing?..i remember some years needed to change the pins on shift solenoid?
3 The torque converter should bolt right up to my 351W?
Just don't want to take to him and have surprise money needing spent to get it right..
Thanks guys
The 93 has a cable shifter linkage, which puts the connection at the top side of the linkage, and my 91 has a rod linkage which the connection is at the bottom side of the linkage
When i pull the transmission,is it an easy task to swap the linkage and TR sensor since i will have access under the pan easily ?
Update.......
I just did a parts search on rockauto...all the part numbers for the transmission range sensor(AKA the neutral safety switch) from 89-96 E4OD's are the same exact part numbers...soooo...it should be a direct plug in as far as the sensor..
On the 93 trans, the linkage arm is removable with one nut on the very outside, and looks like it could be turned around upside down..this would put the linkage configuration in the right configuration for the 91 linkage..
I will get a good measurement comparison from the center of the linkage bolt on the 91 to the hole for the linkage connection, and see what i need for the 93 linkage arm to fit and work correctly..
I will have to cut off the little pin on the 93 for the cable connection, and drill a hole in it to accept the older manual linkage arm,if it is not long enough,i am a welder/fabricator by career and have all needed to extend it...
soooo...i think i have that problem solved
I guess i'll end up doing the swap myself so i can correct any of the problems myself
