I have a 1990 F150 and I just dropped in a 408 windsor with victor intake manifold and 750 holley. My E4OD is only a year old with only 500 miles on it and works great...will I be able to use this with the old style engine?
Then engine is starting up just fine, but the transmission doesn't seem to go into drive or reverse. Will I need to find an older c4 or c6? Or is there any way I can use the e4OD? Your help is much appreciated!
The E4OD is electronically controlled by the PCM. I'm not 100% sure what it will do without the PCM but it sounds like, not much. They do make something to plug in I believe to fix this but I think they are expensive. Maybe someone else can be of more help on that.
Confirmed: "Carbureted applications require installation of a throttle position sensor to the carburetor throttle linkage, which should prove easier than adapting a TV cable for a Ford AOD or similar non-electronic transmission. All other sensor connections are integral to the transmission harness. Transmission harnesses can be provided in a turn-key manner, if so desired." Cut from the product info....
Thank you guys for the input. I think it would probably be easier to just sell my E4OD and rebuild my an old c4 I have in the garage. It would be easier to get stall converter for a c4 anyway.
