chime whenever driver's door is open

The chime goes continuously when I open the driver's door with the key out of the ignition and the dome light stays on a long time after the door is closed. The chime will quit when the door is closed but the light stays on for a long time and eventually times out at I would guess over a minute. If I'm inside and turn the key to run the light will go out. Shouldn't it fade to dark within say 15 seconds after the door is closed? And why does the chime go continuously even though the key is out? Any ideas?

I have the same Chime issue. I have been told it may be a short in the wire that goes to the ignition switch. When I put the Tilt Wheel all the way up it quits.

There has been a write up on this before. I don't remember the details, but there is a thingy thingy in the ign. switch. I'm sure someone will chime in soon or do a search on it.
