My truck did not come with any sort of radio or speakers. I would like to add something so I can play music while I drive but my problem is I'm a huge music geek and sound quality is highly important to me. I really don't want to cut anything but would be willing to if I don't have a choice since I plan on keeping this truck for now on. What are some options for speaker placement and for the radio unit itself? Please post pictures of your setup if you have one
Topic has come up on several occasions; fortunately, I bookmarked a couple for future references. I have the original a.m. radio and regardless of where I travel the reception is next to none.
I have the original radio, and it works; although, living among the redwoods I have to wait till the stars are in alignment to get any reception. Since I have the 2 holes in the dash for mounting the original radio, should I decide to upgrade, I would contact Tom bronco parts and inquire if the radio they advertise would work with the 61-66 Ford truck application, certainly appears from video the radio's are same/similar?? I believe with the RediRad Radio Adapter it's a matter of tapping into the existing AM radio using an adapter. If one does not have the original radio I would want to compare cost of adapter, plus the additional cost of the adapter to determine which best suits your needs. Finally, posting a 'how to' FTE thread on modifying the original radio to incorporate an adapter for what ever type of external device one fancies; i.e., Ipod, MP3, or some thing similar. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-addition.html
Why not skip the radio, there isn't much music to speak of and a lot of advertisements. Worthless. What you really want is an iPod or MP3 player, or an old iPhone filled with tunes etc. Feed that into an amplifier and speakers, done.
I'm to cheap to actually buy songs but not willing to download them illegally so strictly a phone or iPod connection to speakers wouldn't work for my purposes
I'm thinking about mounting a radio either under the seat or in the glove box so I don't have to cut the dash. Speaker placement is one of my bigger concerns
O' yah, I like it!! Certainly appears the radio is similar/same to the original; if so, there should not be any refab on the dash?
Correct. if you have holes for original radio, it mounts right up. If not there is a template for the holes.
This radio is the one from "Retro Sound" The Huntington model.

I like it, sound quality with the speaker set up I have is good and clear.
