door panels project

Just thought I'd share my weekend project.

Didn't want to cut into the actual door, so I replaced the panel with wood that I cut to shape and bevel the edge down on. Wrapped it with the same material as my headliner. Found matching paint for speaker grills. All together, very simple, but I really like how they came out. Hoping to get a router sometime. Some contours through the panel would be nice. But for now I'm pleased. The stock radio does not work, but I do not wish to replace. Rather keep it for the original look. Installing a minature marine amp at the back of the glove box....wires ran to the iPod hidden in my ashtray(no smoking in my truck!!!)

I like it. Unfortunately for me, a PO all ready cut one speaker hole in my panels.

No...I did not. Is that necessary? If so, shouldn't be a hard fix

It's only necessary if water is going to get in. So yes I would waterproof them. Or you can always use marine speakers.

Sorry for the delay. The actual panel is wooden, but it's wrapped with "bright white" vinyl. Its looks and feels like leather.

This is how the headliner came out
