Buy both, if they're half of it's like buying one, and you're gonna need both of them at some point on this long adventure we call "wrenchin". Just say the turkey made you do it if anyone asks.
At some point you'll want both, but start with the ft-lb scaled wrench. All of the "mechanic" work will use it, but the daintier stuff will be measured in inch-pounds.
Do NOT put a ft-lb scaled torque wrench on something that calls for torquing to inch-lbs and try and convert in your head. You'll pull the threads right off of something.
I have 3. One in inch-lbs up to 240 (20.8 ft-lbs.). One from 20 ft-lbs. to 100 ft-lbs. One from 50 ft-lbs. to 190 or so. First 2 are 3/8" drive, the last is 1/2" drive.
I obtained them from the money I saved doing work myself instead of taking my vehicles to the shop.
If you're going to replace struts, get the high ft-lb one. I did struts on my Camry and it called for 165 ft-lbs.
You will need the larger one if you do any kind of wrenching on the X, 165 for the tires, over 200 for some of the suspension stuff. You will need the smaller one for some of the finer, like spark plugs stuff or you smaller vehicles. Get both if you can.
