As the title says, only when cold. When I start the truck cold it will "rhomp" 2-3 times and then level out. There is a dead miss until it gets up to operating temp. After that it runs fine, power is good and all is well.
This is my 97 F250 4X4. Oil is new, as is the fuel and air filters. The injectors I replaced with a used set and have only put a few hundred miles on them.
The truck is totally stock, no mods that I have found.
I'll try to hook up my AE this weekend to buzz and check contribution, but there is no CEL, so there shouldn't be any codes.
Probably one of the used injectors, but they ran well in the 97 F350 I took them out of.
I wouldn't worry about it yet. Air in hp oil lines does funny things.
Shouldn't the air be purged by now? I have put close to 300 miles on it. Another thought, could it be air in the fuel? I did notice yesterday that the "fuel filter" sensor is seeping a little fuel. I have my extra fuel bowl resealed, ready to go on, going to do the IPR o-rings at the same time.

I wonder if you have 1 bad glow plug and it takes a couple of revolutions to get that cylinder to fire? any white smoke at start up?

All glow plugs are good. Its more like 3-4 miles to get that cylinder to fire. It does smoke when it starts, but clears up long before the miss goes away.
It shouldn't be from the fuel. Most guys say up to 200 miles of heavy abuse to get the air out.
OK, I'll keep driving it and see if it clears up. If not its really not that big of a deal to put one of the old injectors back in there, I was smart enough to mark the known bad ones when I pulled them out. ;-)
Finally had a minute to get back to the truck. Have driven it about 700 miles and it still misses when cold. Fuel economy is around where I expected at 16.5 MPG.
Hooked my AE up to it today. Injector buzz while cold didn't sound good with 3 barely audible. Contribution felt like it has two dead. Let it warm up and all injectors buzz as they should and contribution is even on all cylinders. It showed #s 1,2 and 7 as high to low side open, but after the injectors started firing is showed no codes at all.
Work has been hectic lately, hope I can find time to pull the valve covers this week. Really would like to pull my small camper to the lake on the 24th, but hate to have to warm up completely before pulling out.
Guess I should just break down and send the old set of injectors to Rosewood for a stock rebuild. Really hate to buy more injector o-rings to put some of the old ones back in.
