Hi guys, I picked up my navigator pretty cheap through a bad debt. It drives pretty good for the most part and probably has every factory option available. However it does have some issues I need help fixing
1) theres a knocking(more of a thud) underneath my left foot under the drivers side floor board while driving over uneven roads. I assumed a sway bar bushing but that seems much further forward in the engine bay. This seems like maybe a front subframe mounting point?
2)Power door locks dont work, switches on front doors, keypad on drivers door and keyless entry remotes are unresponsive. I noticed a remote antenna on the windshield. Went looking for an aftermarket alarm under the dash. I found an OEM Ford motor company remote starter and keyless entry module. Does anyone have info on this? Fuses or relays I need to look into? interior lights, windows and stereo all work. Major issue is I cant open my rear hatch...Also the radio stays on for 15 mins or so after I exit vehicle. Does not turn off regardless of what door was opened
3) Shifter broken. I cannot remove the key from ignition. The shifter now goes in and out of park without the brake being applied. Key doesnt come out and battery dies
4) Air ride, my front end is sagging or kneeling. Compressor works and runs, Rear is inflated. Not sure how or where to start
For the lock and other electrical issues, that sounds like the tell tale signs of a vehicle security module on its way out. Often, you can disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect and the VSM will return to at least some of its functionality. My 03 had no door locks, keyless entry or auto lamps when I got it. Reset the VSM and everything came back. Over the last few weeks however the locks are sporadic in when they work. Auto lamps and keyless entry still operating for the time being. The sure fire fix if things do reset is to have it replaced and reprogrammed. The front air springs could have an issue with a height sensor or the airbags themselves could be leaking, as that is the more common issue and the reason why most people covert to coil over spring setups.
