Keyless entry question.

I just bought a 2002 F-350 and it came with no keyless lock transmitters. I figured that all vehicles came with this standard so I bought a pair off ebay and tried to program them but the truck won't go into program mode when I cycle the key 8 times (or 5 times , or 10 times). My owner man says to do this with the doors "electronically unlocked". I can't electronically unlock the doors because I don't have transmitters that are programmed to the truck. Is there another way to do this?
I did a search here and learned that you know for sure your truck came with the remote lock option if when you push the lock button and then shut the door the parking lights will flash. I did that and no flash.
Then I did a search here and learned that maybe the RKE (remote keyless entry) controller is bad, someone said it was an all too common problem on the 2002 models. If I understand correctly it is on top of the trans tunnel in front of the shifter (manual tranny). I have some electronic box there that may just be it, can I get one from the jy and replace it and program it myself or do I HAVE to have a dealer do it?

TIA.

You can 'electronically unlock the doors' with the button on the drivers door, just unlock.

The VSM (Vehicle Security Module) is a common failure in the 2002 and they do hold all of the electronics for the remote unlocking and also the door keypad feature on some models. The VSM is vehicle specific and must be programmed by the dealer.

The location you have is correct and the VSM has 3 large electronic connectors hanging off the bottom of it.

Your Truck may not have keyless entry. Mine ('03) does not. At least I don't think it does.

Does any one have a picture of the control module?

Well I took pics of what I thought was the VSM and I was gonna include them in this post but when I clicked the "insert image" button it said to "enter the url of your image". Doesn't that mean I need a website? So much for that idea. Anyway I'm not so sure what I'm looking at is the VSM because guzzle said it had 3 large electronic connectors hanging off the bottom of it and I only see 1 connector. I could e-mail the pics but I can't "enter the url of my image" to post them here. Sorry

So this VSM that the dealer has to install, is it spendy? I'd rather not spend $200 just to unlock my doors remotely when I could put that shinola towards a remote starter that also unlocks the doors, or better yet spend it on exhaust or gauges or a DP tuner.
