I can't believe I am having to ask this but I sure haven't been able to find out anything in my owners manual. My truck has the factory remote starter that works, kind of. Distance is pretty short but my questions is this: How do I set up the heater, defroster, etc to come on when the truck is remote started? Seems that last winter, the defroster came on but on the lowest fan setting. After playing with it tonight, the defroster isn't coming on at all. All I can adjust on the dash computer is the length of time the truck will run when remote started. I'd like to have the windshield defrosted and maybe even the seat warmers on when I go out. I have owned several after market starters and they all would start with the dash settings as they were when the truck was last turned off. It's Alaska and the snow is coming down the mountains!!!
My understanding is when remote started, the HVAC tries to get the interior to 72*. It will use whatever climate controls it needs to achieve this, be it heat or cooling.

Correct..... if the truck is equipped with the dual zone automatic climate control. If the truck just has the single zone manual HVAC system, then it will sense outside ambient temps and either turn on the A/C in warm weather, or heater/defrost in cold weather. But the single zone systems cannot sense interior cabin temps.
Also if the truck is equipped with heated/cooled seats, those automatically come on as well.
Back to the OP.... the Super Duty trucks have limited settings for remote start. Basically you can turn the system on or off, and change the run time. That's about it. Everything else is automatic. If it's getting really cold out and the defrost/heated seats are not turning on, you may need to have the dealer check it out to see what's up.
It doesn't seem to blow real hard until the engine temp gets warm enough. I leave my blower on and the heat cranked up to 90 and it's pretty warm in there if I've let it run for about ten minutes.

Is there a setting for this? Mine don't come on automatically... with remote start or if I start the truck myself. I ALWAYS have to reach up and click them on. Even if I left them on last time the truck was running.

No setting on the Super Duty unfortunately. It's all automatic.
How long from remote start until the time your butt hits the seat? If it's only a few minutes it might not be long enough to feel it, especially on the cooled seats since those take longer to get going.

Actually I was just making my assumption on the fact the lights on the cooled seat icon on the MyFord touch screen aren't lit up.
After remote start, before key on, and even after key on, they aren't on until I touch the screen.
However, I guess that doesn't mean they aren't working with remote start, just on low fan and slow to notice the difference like you said.
Thanks for all the great intel folks!! Sure hoping it does do as it is suppose too!! I do have the dual climate control. Really hoping the seat does heat up this winter. Do you know if the lights on the seat heater switch light up during remote start if it is heating?? Also, thanks for the heads up on the accessory for helping the distance!! Great info!!
I was wondering this myself as we're starting to get mornings in 50's.
So the temperature settings are factory pre-set according to the outside temperature?
It was nice to have a warm steering wheel in the morning.
