finding the engine casting code
I have an engine I'm trying to rebuild/build-up for my 79 Styleside F-150 mudder. I got the engine from a friend who got it in a racecar he bought. He knew squat about the engine and said they told him it was a 400. I'm trying to find out the specs on it (year and size) but I can't find the casting codes. WHERE THE HECK ARE THEY?!?!?!?!

AFAIK they are behind the starter. There have been several questions like this lately, you might try the search function.
You will also find a lot od information on your 400 engine in the other posts here. Check out Bubbaf250's web site also.
