I have a f350 V10 and It has a major oil leak around or above the oil filter. I thought it was the oil filter so I changed it on the side of the road last night and couldn't see enough to tell where the leak was coming from. Anyone had any experience with this before.
I had that experience with my 2008...the gasket stayed on the housing instead of coming off with the filter. I didn't look. Took me about 5 seconds to figure it out when I dropped a quart of oil on my garage floor backing out.
When did the leak start? What work has been done lately? Please visit the Superduty or the V-10 forums rather than the '09 F-150 forum for a greater range of advice.
The oil filter adapter is also an oil cooler. There's an o-ring of some sort in there, and that's probably either bad, or the cooler is loose from the block.
I just bought a F350 V10 and have an oil leak at the oil cooler on the left side of the engine block,..makeing a real mess on the driveway,...I bought the gasket and a service manual for the truck. The manual states you need to remove the port side engine mount and support the engine from above,...sounds like a major ordeal,...anyn shorcuts or good ideas? Do you really have to remove the motor mount? If so is there an easier way to support the engine while the motor mount is out,...Ford manual talks about a trapeze arrangment that uses the alternator mounts etc etc,...anyone done this?
Thanks,
WDA
