2000 F250 Super Duty cruise control not working. I looked through a lot of threads on this subject and cannot pin point my problem. Cruise control was working, had to slow down wile approaching a town, back on the highway and now it won't turn on.
Looked at the brake pressure switch, it was till good but was the old type but had the recall harness on it. Bought a new one and replaced it anyways. Still nothing. All my brake lights work, I also did the Cruise control diagnostic and it passes everything. No lights on my dash are on, speedometer works, horn works.
The only thing I did not check is the Vehicle speed sensor. Eventhough my speedometer works and my ABS light is not on, can this still be the problem?
If so how do you test it? Do I just remove it and test continuity?
I have a number of gremlins in my 99 (late) f250 7.3, my major one is the cruise is not working at all now. It was intermittent on and off for a while. What I mean by that is when it didn't work, I tapped the brake pedal and then it would work; but also another thing was happening. When the A/C was on, the cruise would shut off, the A/C would stop, and the ABS light would come on. When I turn either the A/C off or the cruise off the other would work. I'm thinking it might be a GEM problem
My CC quit working, what I found was the recall mod was long and had not been tied up properly. One of the fuse holders hit the exhaust manifold and melted the holder causing the fuse to blow. I installed new holder and fuse and now it works fine. To finish the job the stealership did I tied it up with a zip lock tie.
I have also noticed now that my steering wheel won't lock when parked. Could this be related and possibly be the clock spring? I've only had this truck since March and it only would lock sometimes but now I can't get it to.
Okay, now things are getting weird. Driving last night and I hit the "Resume" button and my cruise came on (cruise light comes on). Long story short, my cruise seems to turn on using the "Resume" or the "Accel" button but not with the "On" button. It shuts off normally using the "Off" button or the brakes. The "Accel" and "Cruise" buttons work as they should one the cruise is on. The diagnostic test still runs normally and everything works properly when doing the test.
Has it rained lately where you live? I had similar issues with my 99 F250 Lariat SD with 5.4. Inspect the windshield for any delamination. I found the lower passenger corner separating. We had a heavy rain and many of the symptoms you all have listed I had. The radio was on with key in my pocket, horn didn't work, cruise didn't work. Also the passenger air bag light was on very dim. The SD trucks are known to have leaks around the windshields. I had a new windshield installed and everything came back after the GEM dried out. Hope this helps.

Going from my weak memory I think that IS the way it works.
The ON button must first be ON to first ENABLE the system. After you turn it on you can SET the speed. I don't remember which button is the set, I was thinking it was marked Set or +.

The ON button, when hit never turns on the "Cruise" light, except during the diagnostic test. If you hit OFF, the cruise shuts off, the other buttons shouldn't work after that until ON is hit again. The ON button does nothing, both RESUME and SET/+ will turn it on and set at the same time, but it is not consistent. Seems like only one or the other will turn it on. Sometimes I'll hit either button and nothing but hit the other and the cruise will turn on.

No rain, it's been really dry around here. It was working and quit in the middle of a trip on a decent day. The truck is new to me since April, but I have been using the Cruise all summer without any problems.
