Hey guys, I've noticed my front axles are rotating all the time even when the hubs are in auto and supposed to be unlocked when in 2wd. Is there a rebuild kit for these so they will unlock the axles or do I need to buy new locking hubs?
That happened to me all the time, to get them unlocked I had to jack up each front wheel and rotate the tires back and forth until they released, I got sick of that so manual I went...
Is there any problem with having them engaged all the time?
I have noticed no fuel economy difference running locked or unlocked.
My concern was unnecessary wear and tear on the front axles as well as fuel economy. I was hoping to get a tad better mileage if they were unlocked but maybe not.
I have an 04 F250 and want to convert to the Warn hubs. Could someone that has done the conversion give me part no's and all of what is needed to do the swap. Thanks in advance!

On a 04 its a 10 minute per side job and all that you need is the Hubs, I got mine at Napa and went with the Warn Standards because I like the Black dials and they are quarter turn..
Warn is the company now making '05 and later manual hubs for Fords. Check summitracing.com for price/fitment (among many other vendors).
I spoke to a Warn factory worker from the portland, OR area that builds the '05 and up hubs for Ford so i agree with the above post. He stated the design and strength is way better then previous years. shouldnt need to buy any other hub. If your '05 and up hubs are functioning correctly perhaps they need pulled apart and cleaned up.
