Hey y'all, I've looked at info on this forum from time to time but never got around to joining until now. I'm a native Texan living in Alabama. I've been a Ford man all my life. My favorite engines are the FE series and the I-6 (240/300). Right now I'm dealing with a 1986 F150 Lariat XLT that we resurrected a year ago after it sat in a field for 3 yrs (bought it for $300). I'll load a photo album of the truck later. It has the first generation multi-port fuel injected 5.0L engine with the C6 tranny. I just replaced the factory alternator yesterday and told my local Ford dealer I was really hoping it would make 30 yrs but it only made 29.
I've got it in good mechanical shape and am preparing to launch into some body work. The good news is that the body is overall in good condition. There's no serious rust, just a few small places that haven't gotten severe, and some deep scratches (and, of course failing clear coat). The hood has a ding on a corner that seems like it would be hard to repair. I may go for a new one instead of trying to repair it. My 19 yr old dinged some of the chrome in a parking lot the other day, and that's where I'm stumped. I can't find this piece of chrome. It's the left side rear wheel arch that comes above the fender's edge about 2 or so inches. LMC Truck recommended I get in on some forums and see if anyone knows where I might get this piece. Any advice would be appreciated.
