My 13 xlt has a blown front speaker.Rather than have Fords replace it under warranty with the same cheapo speaker I would like to upgrade with something a little better.I don,t want to spend a bunch, just something a little better that will last.Has anyone replaced theirs, and what did you use?
I went with the Ford/Kicker upgrade which is more than you want to spend since it comes with a subwoofer and DSP but you can buy the Kicker door speakers separately. They sound pretty good. Youl should be able to find a quality name brand set of door speakers for around 60 to 80 bucks.
As a practical matter though, you need to ask yourself why are speakers getting fried? Typically it's from excessive distortion. New speakers won't necessarily help at all in that regard.
. It has been almost two years since I installed them and I have not had any further issues.
From what I read you want to go with something in the same price / performance range as what I bought if you only intend to replace the speakers. You will not gain any bass but the overall sound is clearer and you can crank it up louder without distorting.
