trying to ohm 42 pin connector have batteries disconnected and getting nothing,it flashes a couple numbers and goes to zero on all of them,i am using tuglys 42 pin pic as a guide
Maybe the range on your meter is set too high - if it's not auto-ranging. 0 is a good number (zero ohms) on a high-range ohm meter. If your meter is auto-ranging and it can't read ohms in the single digits, this can cause 0 as well. My meters are pretty sensitive, but I use them for a living - so they are of good quality.
That PCM/IDM communication error raises an eyebrow. One good test for this is look at your FIPW with KOEO. It should read 0.6 ms when the PCM and IDM are talking to each other. Without that 0.6 ms, nuthin' interestin's gunna happen when you turn the key. A failed communication will not allow the injectors to fire.

Not trying to sharp shoot Tugly... jgilrfr, your engine will still crank and run...am I correct?...even with the P1668 and 0.0 ms FIPW at KOEO?
OK. As an update, I had never even looked to see what FIPW was at KOEO. So, in order to obtain more info for you, I went and hooked everything up to monitor FIPW and my FIPW is at 0.0 also at KOEO.
So, does this mean that the FIPW that is being reported for both of us is low?
If it is, then is actual FIPW 0.6 higher?
Or, Rich, are you reffering to a reading that Torque sees during a KOEO test?
should i pull number 7 and move it to see if it follows,or could it be the tuning?i am going to try different tunes in a couple of weeks, should wait until after that?

I would not go to the trouble of pulling #7 at this point unless I am missing something...HUGE... Your buzz test sounded good. Your engine sounds normal based upon what I can hear and see...no skipping, lurching, missing etc.
At most I would swap out a CPS and rerun the test to see if #7 remains low.
If it stays with #7, I would then remove the tuning from the equation or at a minimum, change tunes and re-run the test.
Do you have single shots now?
If so, do you have a base flash on the PCM that will allow you to run the engine with the tuner removed?
I installed a new idm, swamps hvhf idm, cleared all codes warmed up reset kam,run KOEO and get P16668 pcm /idm communication, and P0605 rom memory error.I also ran a cylinder contribution test and my error moved from cylinder 7 to cylinder 3.I am at a loss and hoping someone has some ideas
