Hey all,
I have a 96 ford ranger 4cyl 5 spd. I've only had it for a month or so, but I've noticed on cold mornings my odometer won't work. The trip or the total mileage. I can hear the odometer cable clicking. Once the cab gets warmed up it'll start working. It's only happened twice, at about 50 degrees or lower, so I can only imagine what'll happen once winter kicks in.
Any suggestions on where to go from here? I was thinking maybe it needs to be re-lubed or something...
I wouldn't mind too bad except for it throws off my mpg calculations haha. Can I get the gears from any big box store or do I have to special order them from somewhere?
Check the dealer, if it's around $10, go for it, you only need the gear that is on the motor, I thought Rockauto was the best price..not!! I will keep looking, seems I got mine for a
lot less than Rock, mine is 96 3.0 5sp.
I ordered from Rock Sept 2014, $20 inc shipping, huge price jump.
Bill, still looking
I've noticed a lot of price jump lately...advance auto redid their website with new inventory while the old inventory was still on their site. So you could search a solenoid for example, and see the old price and new price. Guess everyone is upping their prices....
