hows it going guys,
Just a quick question, Has anyone out there messed around with the possibility of converting a 1979 super cab long bed into a crew cab short bed. just curious to see if my 155" frame would work for that.
thanks.
Crew cab short beds have 150" wheel bases I believe. It won't bolt up if that's what you're asking but it wouldn't be extremely hard to fab rear cab mounts and get the crew cab onto the supercab frame.
You could build a flatbed and just make it a the correct length so the wheelbase wasn't a problem. Or you could shorten you frame, which isn't as hard as some would I make it seem. Many class 8 trucks are stretched and do just fine. Research how to do it right. Obviously you would need a new drive shaft, brake lines, etc.
since you'd only be moving it 5" you might be able to just move the rear axle forward and remount it. Same complications as shortening the frame though.
alright thank you for the replies. only reason i really ask is because my super cab "cab" is losing its battle on rust and eventually will be swapping it or making a new floor pan. so i figured id explore all my options.
