Hub Tool ?'s

It has been awhile (thank God) since I have had to take the front hubs apart on a Ford 4x4 I have a 97 350 with manual hubs. I took the front grease cover off, the outer wheel bearing, then an annoying retaining ring, followed by a few washers and other rings. now I am confronted with a nut that I remember from doing my 94 F-150 4 slots socket looking tool needed. however when I dusted off the tool I used on my 150 it appears to small for my 350 am I just loosing my mind or did ford actually use 2 different sizes?

It has been a long long day and I have started making stupid mistakes that's why I have to ask. I feel like maybe I am missing something obvious.

The F250/350 use a larger spindle nut. I have a Great Neck 25966 socket for this purpose.

Yes F-350s use a different spindle nut that requires a different spindle nut wrench than an F-150 (some F-250s use the F-150 nut and wrench, others use the F-350, so there are only 2 thankfully).

But you don't get the outer wheel bearing off until after the spindle nuts are off, so either you don't have the outer wheel bearing off yet or your talking about a different nut requiring a 4 slots socket looking tool (6 slots actually on an F-350 I think).

There are two different sizes tools. One for the Dana 44 found in F-150s and F-250s and a different one for the Dana 50 found in some F-250s and the Dana 60 found in F-350s.
