Typically, a catalytic converter equipped truck will have the wording "unleaded fuel only" or "unleaded fuel" on the lower portion of the dashboard gas gauge.
Trucks without cats used regular fuel and didn't have the warnings on the gauges.
When the trucks were new there were similar labels on the fuel caps / doors or near the fuel filler. These labels usually didn't last long.
The unleaded fuel tank filler pipes had restrictors in them to prevent non-unleaded fuel nozzles form being inserted. The unleaded nozzle was smaller than the "regular" and "premium" nozzles.
Well, I'm new to OHV Fords, but as a general statement, saying the only reason to have an A.I.R. smog pump is for catalytic converters is just wrong. There were factory smog pumps on cars back to 1968 model year, and the converters didn't hit until 1975. The earlier pumps did the same thing, pumped air into the exhaust manifolds where it was supposed to react with hot CO and unburned hydrocarbons.
