I just spent the weekend replacing all of the spring bushings on my 60, & found I am missing one of the spring caps on the rear drivers side. Does anyone have a spare one? It's the top plate that keeps the shackles in place.
Drivers side: The shackles are sitting directly on the spring:
I remember when I was a young one, my dad replaced all of the springs; The back because of a few broken leafs, the front to hold up the new engine. I guess he had a few parts left over!
Hmmm. We have something here that is pretty darn close to that. It's for a 2.25" wide leaf springs. The only thing that may be a tad different is the plate I have is made for completely square U-bolts, while I think yours has a slight radius.
Here's a picture of it:
Feel free to send me a message if you think it will work
Yup, that is what I was referring to was the bend of the U-bolt. The U-bolt looks to be a semi round while the plate I pictured is for a square. We have had some guys make them work because they don't want the U-bolts digging into the leaf spring itself, but it will be a little different.
Worst comes to worse, you can have new square U-bolts made for the new plate and call it a day. Just a thought if Cyclone has an issue locating the correct top plate.
Hey Cyclone I found a pair in my discard pile, you can have them for free if you pay shipping. PM me your email and we'll carry on the discussion there.
And if all else fails, you can take a flat plate and use a die grinder with a cutter the same diameter as the U-bolt and cut the relief grooves in the flat plate.
