Picked up a new gear for the power window motor. The 3 little round nylon pieces inside the housing were in pieces. Is there a trick to installing the new ones? They seem to be too big.
I had the same problem with the new ones. I found that if you heat a cup of water up, boiling, and then drop them in. Wait around 5 mins, pull them out and push them in.
I have found they fit tightly but can usually be wedged into place without the heating. However, if that helps I do not see a down side to it. Just be sure to clean all of the debris out of the gearbox and refill with the appropriate grease. The problem with using nuts - or any other substitute that is harder, denser, or less forgiving than the proper part - is that doing so prevents the drive mechanism from slipping in the event of a blockage in the path of the window track and could therefore contribute to greater injury to a finger or a child's arm, etc.
