The pass. side motor in my 88' does not move the glass up it will sometimes come down, but not up! I removed the door panel an the window is in the track, not bound and the horizonal slide at the bottom of the window is ok do I just drill the rivits out and chuck it or can it be fixed? were can I get more rivits and a gun to install them,,, Bo
No need to remove regulator just locate the three small dimples in the sheet metal where the motor is located. They look like a center punch marks. Drill them out with a large bit. I use a 3/4 in. This exposes the mounting bolts. I have seen cases where you have to locate and make your own center punch marks. Remove motor. You now have two choices. Replace with new motor or get a gear kit and rebuild old motor. Rebuilding consists of removing one screw on cover and remove gear pieces. Lube and install new gear pack, replace cover and reinstall in door.

I had the same thing happen in my '85 and '87. What it is, is the gears are made of plastic. In the middle of the gear, there are plastic ***** that act like a diff. so you don't strip the gear everytime you put the window up and thoughs break and that is why your window isn't working right. All you really have to do is drill the rivits out, and take the motor out. At the end there is a housing that holds the gear. You can buy a replacement gear at a local parts store(I think they are made by "Help")You replace the gear and put the motor back in place. I use short screws with lock washers to put the motor back in and they work great and I can access the motor easy if it ever happens again. Just to be on the safe side, keep your manual close by for any troubles you have.
thanks to all I went to Auto Zone in Waldorf Maryland they had a replacement gear with a new gasket and a tube of grease for 19.00 and the window is back in service Had I seen what the missing parts were the fix would have been way less expensive but I am not moening at spending $19.00 please look for my post re: ignition Cylinder Happy Holidays ,,, Bo
