Wanted to take a moment and say thank you... the amount of research I've been able to conduct gave me the tools to pass on 5 different excursions I look at today. The majority had the dreaded broken exhaust studs just to start with.
The sad part most of them were at Ford dealers....
I sent you some reps for that, this is the BEST place on the net for EX info, advice and help! I've learned a ton from the membership here.
Don't let broken exhaust stud scare you away from an otherwise nice EX, they aren't the end of the world and can be done at home in the driveway/garage, I did mine. If the rigs are at a dealer maybe you could negotiate stud replacements as part of the deal.

Was my thought too... but the customer service was less then expected. They asked for my license and were off to rush me and my wife into a test drive. I like to take my time and really look everything over.
The more we looked at them .. the more we could pick them apart. Door seals, painted over rust, I could of looked past a lot of that minor issues but just kept getting "the force" feeling of look elsewhere. lol
Be patient, you'll find the right one. I really think you'll need to look south and or west. You will thank yourself for that later.
I'm shopping for the $5000 kid car at the moment, and it takes time to find the right one. (to me) Looked at a car locally today the kid and wife liked, I rejected because it's an Ohio car and looks it underneath. I'll end up on a road trip to visit my brother in NM and buy a car soon enough.
I admit I am a fanatic about rusty vehicles, I DESPISE working on them!
On a slightly related note, I was in a drive through today in the EX and heard a definite ticky ticky bouncing off the wall next to me. Last I looked I had one broken stud on each side, afraid to look again.
I didn't find this site until after I purchased. I think I still would have bought the one I did but I was looking at a 2000 that I ended up passing on and now I am happy I did based on what I found and what I found out here. Thanks yall
